How Bossy Lashes became a reality
It was during a trip to the US a few years ago that Varella felt inspired by the fast-paced world of the beauty industry and realized that there was potential for Aruba as well. After this trip she started working towards her dream of opening her own eyelash salon. Varella says that there are a lot of eyelash extension services on the island but it’s always an “add-on” for most salons here, it’s never the main core of the business and she really wanted a salon that was tailored exclusively to eyelash services.

“When the pandemic hit, I decided to start making my dream into a reality. I found a certified coach to teach me the ins and outs of eyelash extensions  and after obtaining numerous certificates, I launched Bossy Lashes”. Varella was still working full time and tells us that it was hard balancing both, but with lots of dedication and support from her family she was able to push through. A little over a year after launching, Varella  resigned from her full-time job and decided to operate Bossy Lashes full time. Varella’s vision for Bossy Lashes is for it to be more than just a place you go to for your eyelash extensions. She knew that there was an increasing demand for quality extensions and accessories in Aruba so she started researching on how she could launch her own brand of products, and so with lots of perseverance and dedication she now also has her own unique line of products called Bossy Lashes Aruba.

As mentioned previously, the eyelash industry can be very competitive so how does Bossy Lashes stand out from competitors?
Varella says that it’s all about quality.  Her advice: “do not use shortcuts or cheap products, it will hurt your business in the long run”. She believes in using quality products. “We use organic and 100% vegan products only, and our products are not tested on animals, this is the future!”. When you work hard, have work ethic, and also have a great personality you are bound to succeed, this is Varella’s recipe for success.

When asked what 2022 holds for Bossy Lashes, Varella says that this is the year she will construct a salon next to her house, so she can have the true salon feeling. She is also working on offering Bossy Lashes products through wholesale with intentions to further expand in the Caribbean as well, the sky is the limit.

Lastly, she wants to continue offering great service and building long-term relationship with her clients. Bossy Lashes welcomes clients of all ages! Varella told us that her oldest client was 80 years old, but she recently passed away. Overall, customer service is really important for Varella and it truly makes her happy when she sees her clients happy. Her clients really see a change when they get an eyelash extension, it boosts their self-esteem and changes their entire look, it’s almost like an instant facelift.
