Planted Microgreens Aruba: A Pandemic Start-up
Today we share another inspirational story of how a young couple started a very one of a kind business concept in the pandemic. Founded by Roddery Croes & Stacey Banfield, Planted Microgreens Aruba is an indoor farm that grows and sells different types of microgreens.
A business born in the pandemic
Planted Microgreens Aruba’s story is a special one because the idea was born during the pandemic. During quarantine earlier this year, Roddery and Stacey started experimenting with microgreens and once they started seeing results they became more passionate about it all and so they were motivated to learn more about microgreens and how to grow different kinds. After feeling so inspired and full of knowledge, the couple proceeded to purchase the appropriate equipment and tools and so Planted Microgreens Aruba became an official business in August 2020.

Vision
So what exactly is Planted Microgreens Aruba? What do they hope to achieve?
“Our mission is to provide fresh, locally grown and nutritional microgreens to the local community, delivered within hours of harvest.” says Roddery. Their goal is to help customers enchance their wellbeing while also raising awareness about the nutritional values and health benefits of consuming or adding microgreens to their diet. Their vision is to become the most innovative and largest seller of local microgreens on the island, and it’s a vision the #BoldTeam fully supports!

Taking the risk
As an entrepreneur, we take lots of risks, it’s part of the business and that’s what helps you grow professionally. What we admire about the couple is that they decided to take this risk during a time that is unknown to many. When asked about what the challenges are of opening a business during a pandemic they said: “we’re a pandemic start-up, so for us, using our time wisely to gain knowledge, to learn and to experiment is key to running our business”. Along with challenges, there are also many rewards to starting your own business. For Planted Microgreens Aruba, it’s the feeling of satisfaction they get when they see their customers truly enjoying their microgreens. It makes the effort and hard work they put into growing microgreens completely worth it. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing your customers enjoy what you create.
We wish Roddery and Stacey lots of success with their new business venture. We leave you with this advice from the couple: Dare to step out of your comfort zone and take risks. Find something you’re truly passionate about and go all in!
