Balancing Work And Home Life As A Mompreneur | Rekha Croes-Daryanani

Rekha is a talented woman, lovely wife and caring Mom. Her career as an entrepreneur initiated at the age of 17 years old as a creative graphic designer. The passion for entrepreneurship came from her father, who was a jeweler.

Rekha never thought she would start her own jewelry line. This idea changed after her father was killed in a robbery assault in his jewelry store in Curacao, year 2008. It was a dark period for her but at the same time she felt pushed and inspired by her Dad and that’s how Rexa Bizou started. Rekha & Eric are parents of 2 children Aryelah & Joshua.

Balancing work and home life as a Mompreneur
In honor of Mother’s Day, we are sharing a few tips from a Rekha Croes-Daryanani who is a Mompreneur. What is a mompreneur you ask? This is someone who runs her own business while also taking care of her children at home. As a mompreneur, balancing both work and home life can be a challenge so Rekha is sharing a few tips that have been working for her.

1. Start your day early
Rekha’s days start very early because she has two kids and has to get one of them ready for school. Now, that there is no school however, she spends a lot more time with both of them in the morning. “Some days, my husband and I take turns looking out for them so the other person can work, we rotate between mornings and afternoons,” says Rekha. I try to have a routine and be consistent but everyday is different when you have a baby

2. Being a mompreneur is very rewarding
One of the best things about being a mompreneur is that you get to see your kids grow. You have the freedom and flexibility to manage your time based on your family’s needs. “I can teach my kids about entrepreneurship because they get to experience this everyday, I can make money by following my passion while also being there for my kids”.

3. Balance is key
Finding the right balance of work and home can be a challenge at times. When the workload piles up, you can find yourself having less time to spend with your family, and you might get some guilt feelings and miss them a little and vice versa, when there is not enough work, you’ll miss working and having tasks to complete. For Rekha, it can be a challenge to find balance at times because she has two small kids that depend on her at all times so it can take her a bit longer to get tasks done because she can get distracted.

4. Be consistent
We mentioned creating a routine earlier in this article but it’s also important to stick to that routine. This is also good because the kids will get a better understanding of when it’s work time vs. family time. Rekha suggests creating a routine, but to not stress about it if you’re not able to stick to it every day. It’s just a guideline for you to have some sort of schedule in your work life.

We hope that these tips are valuable for all mompreneurs and hope this might inspire others that are thinking about choosing this career path.
