Revamping an Existing Business | Insta Photobooth Aruba

We love a good inspirational story of young entrepreneurs taking a business risk and that’s exactly what you will be reading about in today’s blog post. Nanni Larmonie and Errol Carillo from Insta Photobooth Aruba share how they took over an existing business module and adapted it with their vision and mission.

But first, get to know the people behind the product
Nanni and Errol are partners and together they run Insta Photobooth Aruba. Nanni tells us that her career path and passion has always been in the field of digital marketing and everything creative that goes along with it such as writing, photography and design.

Errol on the other hand, is great with numbers. He is an analytical thinker who likes to calculate his every move and decision and makes sure he’s being smart and realistic with his actions. “One thing was clear about the two of us since the beginning of our relationship, his strengths are my weaknesses and vice versa” says Nanni.  One thing they have in common for sure is that they are both ambitious. Even though they love their full-time jobs, they both knew they wanted something bigger and something of their own. Both have a lot of enthusiasm for business, professional growth and personal development and after seeing how well they complemented each other, starting a business together was a no-brainer!

About Insta Photobooth Aruba
The partners tell us that Insta Photobooth Aruba was an opportunity they could not pass down. This has been an existent business for many years. “We take no credit in building the amazing reputation it has today.” says Errol. They felt like it was a great opportunity that literally fell on their laps because the previous owner was leaving Aruba and wanted to sell the company, so he approached them.

“I’m not going to lie, we were hesitant at first. We felt like we had no business taking over such a huge responsibility during this pandemic, especially since the business relies so heavily on parties, events and weddings. But after taking some time to really think about it, brainstorming all the ways we can take this company to the next level, and after seeing how eager our community was to get back to normal, we decided to take the leap and run with it. After everything we are going through globally, we thought it was about time that we finally get to make some new memories together as a community, and a photo booth is just the perfect touch for making amazing memories.” says Errol.

The Insta Photobooth Experience
Insta Photobooth is an experience of its own. Its a portable, open-air photo booth that is perfect for all kinds of  gatherings. Before an event, the partners make sure to connect with the organizer (or client)  to see what exactly their expectations and visions are. Aside of that, they also focus on the branding of the event. They look at color schemes, themes and any other branding references that the client would like for their booth. The partners then create the perfect digital layout that fits the client’s vision. “The satisfaction of our clients is what is most important to us, which is why we try to work on this layout well in advance so that we have enough time to gather feedback and make any necessary changes.”

On the day of the event itself, the partners arrive on-site and have their professional setup which includes a DSLR camera, studio ring light, and fun props that set the tone for the event. They print each photo on the spot to give to guests right away, no waiting time! They also make sure to upload all photos digitally, so that the photo booth fun is easily shared with family or friends.

Other Services
Besides the photo booth, they also offer a variety of additional services that you can add to enhance your photo booth experience such as:

  • Event Photography Services: the photo booth is tied to a specific spot, which is why Nanni and Errol also offer the option to book your event photography directly with them so that you can have pictures of your event overall.
  • Green Screen Backdrop: this allows you to add a scenic, comedic or action-packed touch to your photo booth pictures.
  • On-site Lamination: keep your photos safe by getting them laminated on the spot with a thin layer of protective plastic.
  • Photo Frames: is a great additional party favor for guests.
  • Ice Fountain Sparklers: these safe firework candles enhance your guests’ photos and fire up the mood!

The future of Insta Photobooth Aruba
When asked where they see Insta Photobooth Aruba in a few years, Nanni and Errol tell us that they would love to bring a variety of photo booth options to their clients as well as more add-ons for an even better experience. They would also like to create new business relationships with companies in the industries of parties, events and weddings, which is something that they are already working towards.

Lastly, they see an opportunity to grow their team and expand their company by seeking out fixed spots for their booth. “Our vision is to become Aruba’s IT photo booth rental company when it comes to events” says Nanni. We know that this vision is something both will surely achieve!

Tips on starting your own business: take the plunge or not
Tip #1: research
Nanni and Errol advice to do your research before you start. Nanni says that she is definitely the type to dive head first into a new opportunity just because she gets overly excited  but she has learned that diving head first is how you end up with a concussion. This is why she is thankful for her partner, who is calculated and makes realistic decisions. “Business is not something you can wing but this doesn’t mean that you should let your excitement be dimmed. On the contrary, find a way to make the research and brainstorming process just as exciting!”

Tip 2: put that fear aside
Starting a business can be really scary, but don’t let a great opportunity pass by because of your fear of taking that first step.

Tip 3: start small
Try to start small and build up along the way. Many people are unsure about starting their business because of the big financial risk that comes with it. If this is the case for you, the best thing to do is to avoid taking out a huge loan or making a giant investment for a business that has 50/50 percent chance of succeeding. Try to start with small investments to get started and depending on how much revenue the company brings in, you decide how fast you want to keep growing and at what pace.

There you have it. Real tips from real entrepreneurs! We hope these tips can be of value or inspiration to those thinking of starting their own business.
